Who we are
Hello there, I'm Maryanne Kepui
I'm the founder and owner of Wanbel Consulting Cross-Cultural Specialists. I'm an award-winning communication professional, and for the past 20 years I've been working in-house helping businesses successfully:
- Engage and inspire their people
- Build trust with communities, customers and partners
- Deliver diversity and cultural initiatives, and
- Navigate transformational change.
I am proud of my Papua New Guinean heritage and am excited to use my multi-disciplinary skill set in marketing, change management, and communication to culturally onboard teams to "the land of the unexpected".
Wanbel Consulting formed in 2021, born out of the desire to build cultural awareness for those wanting to work, invest or improve business ties in PNG. We believe there's enough room for everyone to benefit and prosper from the country doing well. In this way, we align our work to supporting the UN SDG #8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth.
In Tok Pisin, Wanbel translates loosely to ‘one womb’, and promotes the idea that because of this closeness, individuals will have the same shared understanding and respect when engaging with each other.
It’s this philosophy that shapes what we do and how which sets us apart from others. And in case you're wondering, yes, that's a bilum in our logo!

Maryanne is the former Secretary of the Australia Papua New Guinea Association, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting closer business ties between the two countries. Maryanne brought forward-thinking and the necessary skills and knowledge to improve communications, develop online tools and enhance marketing efforts to better serve members. She has all the hallmarks of an experienced consultant.
